In the Garden Round Robin

At the CQS list, we are doing a round robin with the theme based on the hymn, 'In the Garden.' The ladies at CQS are all Christians so it will really be a special round robin and a special memento once our blocks return home.
I made a block for one of the ladies in it and this is it. She loves all things Victorian and I really like the colors and how it came out. It is twelve by twelve inches and this is it with no embellishments and with how I am leaning to go with it so far... I might change the lace on the bottom. I am digging for some irish crochet that might look better. Have to try it on for size later tonite

That circular lace (is it tatting?) is lovely! I can't wait to see the work on this, Lillian!

  3. Hi Elizabet,

Yes, it is tatting, although I think it is machine tatted or half crochet and half tatted. I asked a tatting list about it and they said it was done by hand although it doesnt look like it to me. I am not the greatest tatter but i try to have a discerning eye.

  6. Very pretty block. I'm confused by the picture, though. How are you going to add it to the block now? I love that piece of lace and can't imagine what could be prettier than that.

  8. Susan,

Sometimes I add the lace as I sew and other times I add it afterwards. If it is in the middle of a block I take out a tiny bit of stitching and add it wherever I want it. In this case, it is on the edge of the block so I had to undo nothing. =)
