Yellow Dust *cough cough* Hwang Sa
Hwang Sa. It is that time of the year again. The time when the sands from the Gobi desert are carried over land settling upon Korea. For the person who doesn't have allergy problems the only result is it is they can see the dust as it settles in the crevices of the street, upon windows and on cars. You can actually see the dust being blown across the street and the color is so strange because it actually looks flourescent. To those with allergies, it can be a horrible time with many people donning face masks while outdoors. This year, with the mild winter, it has arrived early. Normally it isn't until March or even April that we are affected.
Here is an article from the Stars and Stripes.
Hi!! I'm in Taegu. There is a fabric store about 10 minutes from me. IT IS AWESOME!! Three floors full of fabric. The market has a fabric section again...it's in the middle. I heard that it burnt down but they built it back up again. I love the market!!! There aren't many quilters here. My neighbor downstairs quilts. Her blog is on my list... I call her downstairs Jen. How long have you been in Korea?? We just got here in July. I just took a quick peek at your quilts and they are gorgeous!! How far are you from Teagu??

Hi! I don't think we've met yet. I haven't gone to any of the quilting things they have on base. I don't like the Hawaiian quilts..I'm more a Thimbleberries girl. :) I haven't found anyone outside of my neighbor to quilt with. We've talked about starting up a bee but haven't done anything about it yet. Did you get the directions to the fabric store from her?? If not you are welcome to go with us next week! It would be great to meet another quilter and blogger. It would give us a pretty neat post too!! :) I think we may go on Tuesday or Friday. Have a great night!!!

Bless you! It's horrible for allergies right now in Texas too with the cedar and several of us are suffering, but at least it's not sand from the Gobi desert! :-) I wouldn't be ashamed to wear a mask either, if I needed it! Now I know I'm getting old! LOL
ReplyDeleteOh, no, I think that isn't going to help your recent breathing problems! I hope you don't have to go out too often. I've missed the blogs the last few days, so I enjoyed going back and seeing all you are doing. I love your creativity with seams! The basket of flowers looks great, too. Maybe a few tiny delica sparkles. =)
